What are the toll rates on the toll bridges?

You can find the toll rates for all Bay Area toll bridges in the Toll Locations section of the FasTrak website.

In which lanes can I use my FasTrak toll tag? Which Bay Area bridges have FasTrak-only lanes?

Every lane on each of the eight Bay Area toll bridges accepts FasTrak.

What happens when I drive through a toll plaza?

As you drive through most bridge toll plazas, you'll hear your toll tag beep. The driver feedback display, located just past the collection booth window, will advise you of your account status.

Note: There are no driver feedback displays in FasTrak lanes at the Benicia-Martinez Bridge, nor are there any in the Bay Area express lanes.

I drive an oversized commercial truck. Are there specific lanes I must use even if I have a valid FasTrak toll tag?

Yes. Oversized vehicles must use specific lanes designated for oversized vehicles.

How fast can I travel through the FasTrak lane on the toll bridges?

Most FasTrak toll lanes on bridges have a speed limit of 25 miles per hour (mph). This limit is enforced by the California Highway Patrol.

For toll lanes that are shared between FasTrak and cash paying motorists, FasTrak users should proceed with extreme caution, being alert for stopped vehicles and toll collectors.

For Bay Area toll bridges with open road tolling lanes (e.g., Benicia-Martinez Bridge), the posted speed limit is 55 mph.

If I am in an eligible carpool vehicle and travel through a carpool lane with my toll tag, will I be charged on my FasTrak account?

On the Golden Gate Bridge

Yes. To be eligible to receive the discounted carpool toll rate at the Golden Gate Bridge, you must have a FasTrak account in good standing and travel through a designated carpool lane. Eligible carpool vehicles include: (1) two-axle vehicles with three or more people; (2) motorcycles, including three-wheeled motorcycles; and (3) buses.

Eligible clean air vehicles with fewer than 3 people, two-seat vehicles, and vehicles with rear axle dual tires do not qualify as a carpool on the Golden Gate Bridge.

On All Other Toll Bridges

Yes. To be eligible to receive the discounted carpool toll rate at the state-owned toll bridges, you must have a FasTrak account in good standing and travel through a designated discounted carpool lane. Eligible carpool vehicles include any vehicle that meets the minimum number of occupants (two or three, depending on the bridge), motorcycles and clean air vehicles displaying valid clean air vehicle decals (purple or red). If you drive through a carpool toll lane without a FasTrak toll tag (even if you meet occupancy requirements for the carpool lane), a violation notice will be sent to the vehicle's registered owner. It is a violation of the toll evasion statutes under California Vehicle Code Section 23302 et seq. and Streets and Highways Code Section 30843 to fail to pay the established bridge toll.

On the Golden Gate Bridge, the direction of traffic changes in some of the lanes. Will the FasTrak system charge me tolls in error when I am travelling northbound in the reversible lanes?

Tolls are only collected in the southbound (into San Francisco) direction. The FasTrak system on the Golden Gate Bridge is turned off in select lanes when those lanes are dedicated to northbound traffic.

What is the multibridge commuter discount and how do I qualify?

The multibridge commuter discount is a benefit for Bay Area FasTrak customers who cross multiple state-owned bridges within one day. State-owned bridges include Antioch, Benicia-Martinez, Carquinez, Dumbarton, Richmond-San Rafael, San Francisco-Oakland Bay and San Mateo-Hayward Bridges. This discount is not available on the Golden Gate Bridge.

If you make two commute-period trips on any state-owned bridge within the same day, you will receive a discount of $0.50 on your second toll ($0.25 cents on a carpool toll). You don't have to do anything else to receive this discount. FasTrak will automatically charge the discounted toll rate if you meet the following requirements:

A maximum of two discounts per calendar day per toll tag or vehicle applies.

Commute periods are defined as 5:00 am to 10:00 am and 3:00 pm to 7:00pm, Monday through Friday.

How do I make a one-time payment for a Golden Gate Bridge toll?

FasTrak identifies your vehicle by its license plate number to link your payment. If you do not have a license plate yet, you can still make a one-time payment for your tolls.
